Independent Study: College Newspaper

Proposal
To create a bi-weekly or monthly publication made available to students, staff, and faculty and other community members of CCAD. This publication will be available to pick up in residents halls, high traffic buildings such as Crane and Canzani, or even dropped off at residential doorsteps. This newspaper would provide readers with current information, events, and general news updates in a form that paints a full picture in one central location. The point of difference this newspaper would offer is a single physical object that gives readers the complete story of what they are reporting on.

To provide a point of reference, all Columbus College of Art & Design students receive an email from myCCAD.edu on a bi-weekly basis providing relevant information in the form of important dates and deadlines, links to editorial stories, and other various news.

“Please note: Your regular biweekly MY CCAD email message keeping you up-to-date on the ins and outs of life at CCAD and beyond is going on summer break, too! (You may hear from us periodically over the summer.) In the meantime, you can find past newsletters here and other important links on my.ccad.edu.”

Although this email correspondence seems informative and helpful it is often overlooked by its recipients and rarely read in its entirety. Additionally, it merely provides a short blurb and then a link to a full story, which through research, is rarely looked at. I believe by providing the full story in a physical piece of news would better inform the student and staff body.

Additionally, due to the nature of CCAD we already have the means to produce such a service in house.
